Curtly Ambrose, former West Indian fast bowler, says delighted that cricket is back in Pakistan

Former West Indian cricketer and legendary fast bowler Curtly Ambrose said he was very excited to be in Pakistan for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) start on Thursday.

Ambrose in an interview with Dawn News TV said, “It has been fantastic. I am having a great time and looking forward to enjoying the rest of my time here.”  Ambrose is currently visiting the country in a personal capacity.

Ambrose, who served West Indies at the highest level from 1988-2000 taking 405 scalps in 98 Tests, also expressed excitement about the country’s comeback of cricket.

“Since there was regular international cricket in Pakistan, it’s been about 10 years or so and I know Pakistanis are starving for cricket and want their cricket here. So I’m very happy to see that cricket is back in the country and that’s one of the reasons I’m also here to show the rest of the world that it’s okay to come to Pakistan to play cricket and watch cricket, the Former West Indian cricketer and legendary fast bowler said.

When asked what was his most memorable moment against Pakistan from his days of playing : Ambrose remarked that he always enjoyed bowling against the batsmen of the country because they were some of the best in world cricket.

When asked about Pakistani batsman Babar Azam, Ambrose said “Babar is an outstanding talent,” but that he preferred to talk about team unity rather than singling out individual talents.

The former fast bowler said in a message to Pakistan fans: “Enjoy the PSL. It is nice to be in Pakistan and seeing cricket in Pakistan is exciting.”
