The Most Dangerous and Safe States for Dating Online in 2020

A team of researchers used numbers to find out which states are the safest and most dangerous in terms of online dating.

With Valentine’s Day less than 48 hours away, online dating apps like Bumble and Tinder are likely to increase in downloads.

Thanks to a recent report from HighSpeedInternet, the most dangerous and safest states to use online dating apps have been revealed. HighSpeedInternet ranked states based on government statistics for cybercrime victims, total money lost to digital fundraisers, and STDs in each state.

To see everything down to their final ranking, each measurement was calculated on a scale of 0–1, with 0 being the result of the measurement that would have the most negative impact on the final score and 1 being the result of the measurement that would have the most positive impact on the final score.

These weighted readings were then tallied up with the weights referenced above to receive a score out of 100.

High Speed Internet focused data from sources such as the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) report called ‘ Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance 2018.

The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) report ‘ 2018 Internet Crime Report ‘ and the Federal Bureau of Investigation report ‘ Cyber Actors Use Online Dating Sites to Conduct Confidence / Romance Fraud and Recruit Money Mules. ‘
